Ephesians Prayer Guide - Day 17
Light expels the darkness. IT becomes what is obvious in the room. There is no thing too big in your life or our community for Him to overcome! He is FOR us, He is for our community! Let’s give Him all the impossibles to do what only He can do!
Pray Ephesians 5:6-14
Don’t be fooled by those who speak their empty words and deceptive teachings telling you otherwise. This is what brings God’s anger upon the rebellious! 7 Don’t listen to them or live like them at all. 8 Once your life was full of sin’s darkness, but now you have the very light of our Lord shining through you because of your union with him. Your mission is to live as children flooded with his revelation-light! 9 And the supernatural fruits of his light will be seen in you—goodness, righteousness, and truth. 10 Then you will learn to choose what is beautiful to our Lord.
11 And don’t even associate with the servants of darkness because they have no fruit in them; instead, reveal truth to them. 12 The very things they do in secret are too vile and filthy to even mention. 13 Whatever the revelation-light exposes, it will also correct, and everything that reveals truth is light to the soul. 14 This is why the Scripture says,
“Arise, you sleeper! Rise up from the dead and the Anointed One will shine his light into you!” TPT™
Read this same passage in the Message translation:
6-7 Don’t let yourselves get taken in by religious smooth talk. God gets furious with people who are full of religious sales talk but want nothing to do with him. Don’t even hang around people like that.
8-10 You groped your way through that murk once, but no longer. You’re out in the open now. The bright light of Christ makes your way plain. So no more stumbling around. Get on with it! The good, the right, the true—these are the actions appropriate for daylight hours. Figure out what will please Christ, and then do it.
11-16 Don’t waste your time on useless work, mere busywork, the barren pursuits of darkness. Expose these things for the sham they are. It’s a scandal when people waste their lives on things they must do in the darkness where no one will see. Rip the cover off those frauds and see how attractive they look in the light of Christ.
Wake up from your sleep,
Climb out of your coffins;
Christ will show you the light! MSG
We are called to live in the light of Christ! We are called to have union with Him, to ABIDE in Him (John 15). We are no longer to have fellowship with the darkness, for the LIGHT has overcome that old way of doing life. We have been freed from that dead way of living in order to live lives with eternity marked on our hearts!
ARISE O’ sleeper, get out of that old way of living, so that Christ’s light might shine through you!
Jesus said to those Jews who believed in him, “When you continue to embrace all that I teach, you prove that you are my true followers. 32 For if you embrace the truth, it will release more freedom into your lives.”
33 Surprised by this, they said, “But we’re the descendants of Abraham and we’re already free. We’ve never been in bondage to anyone. How could you say that we will be released into more freedom?”
34 “I speak eternal truth,” Jesus said. “When you sin you are not free. You’ve become a slave in bondage to your sin. 35 And slaves have no permanent standing in a family, like a son does, for a son is a part of the family forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free from sin, then become a true son and be unquestionably free! John 8:31-36 TPT™
Wow! “When you sin you are not free. You’ve become a slave in bondage to your sin.” Our freedom has been bought with a price! When we say we are BOUND, we are living outside of the fullness of what He accomplished/finished on the cross. He has set us FREE, unquestionably free! To live like this, we must EMBRACE the truth/own the Truth/allow the Truth to do a takeover in our hearts and minds – this will RELEASE more freedom into our lives!
Seek out your freedom! Do you not give up until you find the VICTORY! Find the Word to apply and speak it/pray it over your situation daily. If after some time (or even simply as you begin the process) you find yourself still bound up, find someone to help you find the missing keys. There are many amazing ministries, pastors and counselors out there that will help you peel back the veil to find what keeps you stuck inside and equip you with the tools to carry forth.
The hand of the LORD was upon me, and He brought me out by the Spirit of the LORD and set me down in the middle of the valley; and it was full of bones. 2 He caused me to pass among them round about, and behold, there were very many on the surface of the valley; and lo, they were very dry. 3 He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” And I answered, “O Lord GOD, You know.” 4 Again He said to me, “Prophesy over these bones and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.’ 5 Thus says the Lord GOD to these bones, ‘Behold, I will cause breath to enter you that you may come to life. 6 I will put sinews on you, make flesh grow back on you, cover you with skin and put breath in you that you may come alive; and you will know that I am the LORD.’”
7 So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold, a rattling; and the bones came together, bone to its bone. 8 And I looked, and behold, sinews were on them, and flesh grew and skin covered them; but there was no breath in them. 9 Then He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD, “Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they come to life.”’” 10 So I prophesied as He commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they came to life and stood on their feet, an exceedingly great army.
The Vision Explained
11 Then He said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel; behold, they say, ‘Our bones are dried up and our hope has perished. We are completely cut off.’ 12 Therefore prophesy and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD, “Behold, I will open your graves and cause you to come up out of your graves, My people; and I will bring you into the land of Israel. 13 Then you will know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves and caused you to come up out of your graves, My people. 14 I will put My Spirit within you and you will come to life, and I will place you on your own land. Then you will know that I, the LORD, have spoken and done it,” declares the LORD.’” Ezekiel 37-1-14 NASB
Find the promises to breath life back into those dead places – those dead marriages, those prodigal sons and daughters, addictions, men and women caught up in webs of lies from the enemy…our schools, our political system, our foster care system… Lay all the impossible situations at His feet and shine the LIGHT of the Word on them!
HE is mighty to save! And the one the Son sets free is freed indeed! Don’t discount for one moment that HE Is not enough! There is NO LACK in the cross!
Stand on the Word! It has the power to demolish strongholds. Speak over the strongholds in your county, over our kids, over our marriages and families… HIS is the name above all other names. His name holds the victory!
PRAY as the Lord leads you today. Speak out His promises. Speak light into the darkness.
Too many great songs to choose from. Listen to the one (or all of them) that applies to your “impossible”.
For this reason it depends on faith, in order that the promise may rest on grace and be guaranteed to all his descendants, not only to the adherents of the law but also to those who share the faith of Abraham (for he is the father of all of us, 17 as it is written, “I have made you the father of many nations”)—in the presence of the God in whom he believed, who gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist.
