Awaiting a Red Sea Miracle

Many of us are hanging onto the edge of our seats, believing for a Red Sea miracle.  I don’t know what this means. I don’t know what it entails. I have no imaginings of how it could possibly happen. And yet our God is mighty to save! His Word does not return void. He hears the prayers of the saints and they availeth much. We have not because we ask not, and we have asked! It’s easier for many of us to imagine the impossible for a last hour miracle of healing. But when it comes to government, we cannot even begin to imagine how a miracle of a supernatural kind could happen. Many of us have zero framework for it in our lifetimes. But our God will never fail us!

We will see a victory – the likes of which we never could have written, the kind that will leave an indelible mark on us for the rest of our lives, the kind that we will be talk about with our children and grandchildren – “remember when God…”! I have no imagining how this could even begin to happen at this last hour. And yet our God works on His timetable and not ours. He is never late as we perceive lateness. No matter how Tuesday plays out, we are at His mercy.  And His plans are for our good, not for our harm; plans to give us hope and a future!

I imagine God has us all exactly where He wants us. He has played his hand so strategically so that we can see only Him move. I imagine for many of us we have less trouble believing that God can do a last-minute miracle in a marriage, with a wayward child, a baby in crisis in the womb, or with someone’s imminent death. Many of us have seen that firsthand or know stories of people in our circles and in our community. But I don’t believe that many of us have seen a Red Sea miracle, at least in our lifetime and in this nation. I believe the pilgrims knew this kind of miracle.

It may take time for us to realize the magnitude of what God is doing/will do in the next week and beyond.  But one day, in the not-so-distant future, we will see with great clarity what God has done – and I believe it will take us to our knees.

JESUS’ BETRAYAL, DEATH AND RESURRECTION

I think back to the story of our Savior’s betrayal, death and resurrection (Mt 26-28). The people tried to silence Jesus, to silence His voice and His claims. They wanted to “silence” the threat He was to their society and security as they knew it. They resented that He wasn’t compliant, that He spoke a better word, and that He was threatening their religious system and hierarchy. In their minds, He didn’t deserve an audience.  When threats didn’t work, their answer was simply to take him down. Jail would not suffice, only death would do. They had the added advantage that He had claimed to be the Son of God. That blasphemy was enough to sentence Him to death on a cross. And the people, the crowd, the mob – were in agreement. Even Pilate’s closest confidant, his wife, appealed to him not to incite any harm upon Jesus. He complied by “washing his hands” of wrongdoing and instead placing the guilt and blame into the people’s hands. The Pharisees and government leaders had Jesus’ people exactly where they wanted them. In fact, many ran away in fear or simply hid.

Jesus died. I am sure His followers saw their hopes dashed after besieging God for a miracle (this is not in scripture, simply my thoughts). Hopelessness, fear, despair, anguish. And yet…

Even with Jesus’ death, the government was not satisfied that His followers wouldn’t rise up in insurrection or make false claims that He was raised from the dead (they had heard His claims that he could destroy and rebuild the temple in 3 days). Guards were set outside of his tomb, to eliminate any deception and false narrative spread about after His death. God was “late”. Jesus was dead in a tomb. And yet…the guards couldn’t stop the miracle the Father had at hand. An earthquake, the stone supernaturally rolled away, angelic presence and the guards fell on their faces motionless. And our God, walked right up out of that grave.

PRAY FOR A MIRACLE IN THE CHURCH

We are asking GOD to show up at this hour.  It will be HIS hour; it will not be stolen by man.  No matter how this all plays out, remember to whom we will give our praise!

Can you imagine a supernatural miracle in which the Church’s eyes and ears will be fully opened? Those that are not yet followers may have trouble discerning the signs, they will probably come up with an explanation to silence our applause. Those of us who are Spirit-filled believers will KNOW.

Let’s step back for a moment in our prayers today. I am not suggesting we pull back from praying for the governmental miracle needed at this hour (continue praying for this). But I am suggesting we step back and look at the big picture and what God might be seeing.  And I think the biggest miracle, could be the miracle that takes place in the Church. God could orchestrate events such that all the evidence is laid squarely on the table and there is nowhere left for anyone to hide. And that is certainly one of my prayers. And yet, I think one of the biggest miracles would involve the Church reconciling. Brothers and sisters laying down their arms, repentance and forgiveness being extended, and the Church finding its ONE voice again.

So, when you are praying for that Red Sea miracle – include the Church in that prayer.  Because a nation “saved” from socialism and censorship, without God, will be a nation set on a course to lose any anchoring.

“Without God, there is no virtue, because there’s no prompting of the conscience. Without God, we’re mired in the material, that flat world that tells us only what the senses perceive. Without God, there is a coarsening of the society. And without God, democracy will not and cannot long endure. If we ever forget that we’re one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under.”

-President Ronald Reagan, August 23, 1984

If you are feeling at a loss today, start in Psalm 100.  Reorient your gaze and praise His holy name.  From that place, the Lord will lead you in how to pray during this hour.

TRUST IN THE LORD

“Don’t you realize that I could ask my heavenly Father for angels to come at any time to deliver me? And instantly he would answer me by sending twelve armies of the angelic host to come and protect us. But that would thwart the prophetic plan of God. For it has been written that it would happen this way.”  (Mt 26:53-53 TPT)

When Peter cut off the ear of the high priest, Jesus was quick to rebuke him.  At any moment a deliverance could have been called up; Jesus could have been spared the cross.  But that wasn’t the way the Father had in mind.  He had an extremely specific plan (a prophetic plan) for salvation to be extended to all mankind and it involved Jesus; it HAD to be Jesus!  I believe the same goes for our specific time in America’s history.  God has already written the story!  Let’s not tread upon the Lord’s plans by inserting our own understanding of HOW we think He should write the pages of this nation’s history this week.  Instead, come alongside of Him, listen to His voice and partner with Him and His best laid plan!

Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, and He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].  (Proverbs 3:5-6 AMP)

PRAY

Are you ready?  This is a battle that will only be won on our knees.

  • Pray that those people whose call at this hour is to push be through and be voices that present and push evidences through. They are desperately needed in order to ensure integrity in our voting process from hence forward.  Pray for their boldness, their voice and their protection (including their families).  [Pray from Psalm 17, specifically verses 6-8.]
  • Pray for a righting in our nation and government that only the Lord can do. [Pray Isaiah 9:2-4, 6-7.]
  • Pray for the Church, that she would be bold, aligned with our strong and mighty tower, a place of safety, protection and provision. Pray that her voice would align completely and thoroughly with the Word.  Pray for her foundation and that it would rest securely on the ONE who saves. [Pray Acts 4:31, Proverbs 18:10, Matthew 7:24-25, and Acts 4:11-12.]
  • Pray for pastors and leadership – that they would have one ear to the ground and one ear toward the heavenlies. Pray that the Holy Spirit would breathe life into their messages and that they would speak because HE has given a message to be spoken.  Pray that they would be relevant and at the same time communicate the Word unapologetically, drawing all who hear to the Truth. [Pray John 16:13, Deuteronomy 4:2, Revelation 22:18-19 and 2 Timothy 3:16.]

We serve the King of Glory!  He gets the last word!

Throw off your fear!  Go and tell others; we will find Him right here in our midst!
