Life Affirmations – Writing Declarations to Reorient Your Life

Life Affirmations - Writing Declarations to Reorient Your Life

I love how these verses speak to the GOOD of setting our hearts to such a task:

If your faith remains strong, even while surrounded by life’s difficulties, you will continue to experience the untold blessings of God! True happiness comes as you pass the test with faith, and receive the victorious crown of life promised to every lover of God!

When you are tempted don’t ever say, “God is tempting me,” for God is incapable of being tempted by evil and he is never the source of temptation. Instead it is each person’s own desires and thoughts that drag them into evil and lure them away into darkness. Evil desires give birth to evil actions. And when sin is fully mature it can murder you!  So my friends, don’t be fooled by your own desires!

Every gift God freely gives us is good and perfect, streaming down from the Father of lights, who shines from the heavens with no hidden shadow or darkness and is never subject to change.  God was delighted to give us birth by the truth of his infallible Word so that we would fulfill his chosen destiny for us and become the favorite ones out of all his creation! James 1:12-18 TPT™

In the last 2 posts, I have talked about writing your own Life Affirmations and some basic steps in how to.  Below, I am going to give you a view into my own writing process.

STRUGGLE:  Lack of discipline

Verses to guide my process (sections highlighted to show what I emphasized):

Whatever you do, be working from the soul as for the Lord and not for people, Colossians 3:23 DLNT

The steps of a [good and righteous] man are directed and established by the LORD,
And He delights in his way [and blesses his path].
When he falls, he will not be hurled down,
Because the LORD is the One who holds his hand and sustains him. Psalm 37:23-24 AMP

Take a lesson from the ant, you who love leisure and ease.
Observe how it works, and dare to be just as wise.
It has no boss,
no one laying down the law or telling it what to do,
Yet it gathers its food through summer
and takes what it needs from the harvest.
How long do you plan to lounge your life away, you lazy fool?
Will you ever get out of bed?
You say, “A little sleep, a little rest,
a few more minutes, a nice little nap.”
But soon poverty will be on top of you like a robber;
need will assault you like a well-armed warrior.

Laziness is not just a bad habit; it’s a threat—a clear and present danger. Since the beginning, God has made us in His image to create and tend His good creation. In other words, God has made us to work. It is in our spiritual DNA. We must do it in order to be who God made us and to fight off the threats of poverty and want. God has also created the Sabbath as a space for us to rest, of course, just as He rested on the seventh day. Proverbs 6:6-11 VOICE (included commentary above)

May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us;
establish the work of our hands for us—
yes, establish the work of our hands. Psalm 90:17 NIV

making the very most of your time [on earth, recognizing and taking advantage of each opportunity and using it with wisdom and diligence], because the days are [filled with] evil. Ephesians 5:16 AMP

My Personal Life Affirmation for Discipline

I am disciplined and focused, making the most of my time. I am diligent and wise with the work He has called me to and work as if for the Lord. I look to the Lord to direct my steps, and He in turn establishes the work of my hands

STRUGGLE:  a mama needing to reorient her parenting lens

Verses to guide my process (sections highlighted to show what I emphasized):

Her teachings are filled with wisdom and kindness
as loving instruction pours from her lips. Proverbs 31:26 TPT™

Fathers, don’t exasperate your children, but raise them up with loving discipline and counsel that brings the revelation of our Lord. Ephesians 6:4 TPT™

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places. Ephesians 6:12 AMP

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Galatians 5:22-25 NIV

My dearest brothers and sisters, take this to heart: Be quick to listen, but slow to speak. And be slow to become angry, for human anger is never a legitimate tool to promote God’s righteous purpose. So this is why we abandon everything morally impure and all forms of wicked conduct. Instead, with a sensitive spirit we absorb God’s Word, which has been implanted within our nature, for the Word of Life has power to continually deliver us.

Don’t just listen to the Word of Truth and not respond to it, for that is the essence of self-deception. So always let his Word become like poetry written and fulfilled by your life!

If you listen to the Word and don’t live out the message you hear, you become like the person who looks in the mirror of the Word to discover the reflection of his face in the beginning. You perceive how God sees you in the mirror of the Word, but then you go out and forget your divine origin. But those who set their gaze deeply into the perfecting law of liberty are fascinated by and respond to the truth they hear and are strengthened by it—they experience God’s blessing in all that they do! James 1:19-25 TPT™

These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.  Deuteronomy 6:6-7 NASB

Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing. 1 Thesalonians 5:11 NASB

We can demolish every deceptive fantasy that opposes God and break through every arrogant attitude that is raised up in defiance of the true knowledge of God. We capture, like prisoners of war, every thought and insist that it bow in obedience to the Anointed One. Since we are armed with such dynamic weaponry, we stand ready to punish any trace of rebellion, as soon as you choose complete obedience. 2 Corinthians 10:5-6 TPT™

My Personal Life Affirmation for Parenting

I am a mama who is slow to speak, slow to anger and faithful to the precious ones under my care. I build up, encourage, spur on and faithfully and consistently plant seeds of truth in my children. I am committed to my own person walk of pressing into the Lord, taking my thoughts captive when I want to give in to being overwhelmed, angry or distracted. HE is the source of my strength. When my thoughts are threatening to revolt, I look to Him to realign/refine/redefine…so that my Jesus’ example is the one I am allowing to constantly reorient me.

I hope this has given you some insight into how “I” write my own life affirmations.  I have created my first resource, so click below for your free guide to get started…

Please comment below or send me a message – I would love to know how this process has been for you!

PRAYER:  Father, help me to reorient my life to look more and more like your Son.  Show me where I need to step back and refocus.  Lord, lead me to the Living Word, to speak life into those places that are out of line.  May I cling to You as the light to my path.  May Your mark on my life be one that never fades away.  In every way, You are enough for me!  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Trust in the Lord completely,
and do not rely on your own opinions.
With all your heart rely on him to guide you,
and he will lead you in every decision you make.
Become intimate with him in whatever you do,
and he will lead you wherever you go.

Proverbs 3:5-6 TPT™  (emphasis is mine)
