Day 2 - Every Spiritual Blessing
We have every spiritual blessing in Christ! And to this, our aim is to bring Him all the Glory!
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. (NIV)
Every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realm has already been lavished upon us as a love gift from our wonderful heavenly Father, the Father of our Lord Jesus—all because he sees us wrapped into Christ. This is why we celebrate him with all our hearts! (TPT™)
Blessed be God, the Father of our Lord Jesus the Anointed One, who grants us every spiritual blessing in these heavenly realms where we live in the Anointed—not because of anything we have done, but because of what He has done for us. (VOICE)
We bless the Father because of the lavish way He pours out on us; not because of anything WE have done, but because we are seen through the lens of Jesus! Jesus is what gives us access to the Father. Jesus is the reason we have the promised Holy Spirit, that we would never be left apart from His presence.
Read Psalm 103 (in any version) and speak this blessing, out loud, to the Living God! Read this in any version; I really love both the Amplified and the Passion Translation of this! (Consider reading one version in the morning and one in the evening – His Word is SO rich and the layers of meaning so deep and life-giving!)
I love how Gloria Furman wrote about “every spiritual blessing”:
“This opening passage in Ephesians echoes Psalm 103, where God calls us to trust him as we walk in this fallen world. This psalm anticipates what we have been given through Christ, which is “every spiritual blessing.” Bless the Lord, oh my soul! Don’t forget a single one of those blessings! These blessings find their origin in him, and their bestowment upon us is entirely of God’s own initiative. It is he who blessed us, chose us, predestined us, lavished his grace on us, made known his purposes to us, and accomplishes all these things for us. The blessings of Psalm 103, which are specifically fulfilled through Jesus and described in Ephesians 1:3–14, are both wrought of God’s glory in his Son and bestowed through the gleaming mercy shown to us at the Cross.”
Our Father is good! And all that He desires to give us is good! “Every spiritual blessing” – I cannot even begin to understand what the fullness of that might mean!
“Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! Matthew 7:11 (NIV)
Let every activity of your lives and every word that comes from your lips be drenched with the beauty of our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One. And bring your constant praise to God the Father because of what Christ has done for you! Colossians 3:17 (TPT™)
We have considered this idea – every spiritual blessing – personally. Now, how do you think this translates to His Church?
We, the body (and I think of the many church bodies here, individually) have been given every spiritual blessing we need to operate in our communities, in our culture. There is no poverty spirit here – not how the Lord operates! We are not in lack, but in plenty, in provision, in abundance. His Church should flourish; it should arise victorious!
Pray for the Church as a whole (a unified, ONE body under Christ) AND for our own church homes. Pray that the BODY would operate in its fullness. And pray that “we” would know how to engage those who are standing on the sidelines, thinking there is no place for them on the field. THEY are a part of “every spiritual blessing” and we need each one to operate in the Lord’s fullness!
He is good, oh so good! Mediate for a few minutes on what this means to you!
(I find that speaking aloud helps me to focus better, as well as it being life-giving to my soul – to speak it aloud AND for my ears to hear!)
PRAYER: Father God, thank you. Really, there are not words enough to thank you for who you are and what you are in my life. I could try, but even my understanding, my big-picture view pales, until one day I am face to face with you. Abba, thank you for your faithfulness, for pursuing me and loving me in spite of myself. Thank you for seeing me through the lens of Jesus. Father, I pray that you would help others to see the same in me – that when they see me, they would see Your Son! Let me represent you well today! Let Your Bride, Your Church, represent you well today! Let Your Church flourish with every spiritual blessing today! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
