One step over the other. Careful. The tangled roots seemed to present an insurmountable obstacle, and yet the “lit up” path remained. Andrew looked at his time piece. The time ticked away far more quickly than he could keep up with. At this rate he would never get back to his place in time, and yet… This surreal force pushed him forward, pushed him to persevere, pushed him to see what lay in the center of the deepest entanglement. The web of overgrowth was meant to deter. Andrew uttered a “prayer” to an unknown maker, “Please, make time slow down. Help me to get where I am going. Make it so that I get back in time.”

Yahweh stepped in and answered a prayer, directed at Him, and yet to Andrew, he was a force/a god unknown. For such a time as this.

Grandma Beulah held this small boy eleven years ago and asked Yahweh for this small boy’s identity. “Boy 618” had a call on his life different than any other child she had previously held in the baby home. Yahweh was always intentional, always purposeful, but this one stood apart. Andrew Gideon, in fact; but she was only allowed to write down one name. “Andrew” is what she wrote on the form, next to “Boy 618”, but her heart told her to keep this one, Andrew Gideon, in her prayers, just as her own precious Eleanor. Brave, strong, courageous and warrior…Great warrior, one who cuts down. Andrew Gideon was two times a warrior. He represented great strength and ferocity. He would be a hero-liberator, as the great Gideon in Yahweh’s Book; chosen to set the people free from their oppression.

Four days ago, Grandma Beaulah watched her precious granddaughter walk out the door. Tears streamed down her face, knowing it would quite possibly be the last time they laid eyes on one another. When her daughter and son-in-law read the short letter from Eleanor, they didn’t connect the dots that Grandma Beaulah was at all involved.  While it wasn’t usual that children “ran off” in her kibbutz, it did happen. Most often children were only gone a few days before returning home. They were upset but not overly concerned. They decided to wait a few days before doing anything. Today marked the fourth day. Grandma Beaulah was on edge, but at the same time a peace which surpassed all understanding engulfed her. Still, she gave every waking moment available to pray for Eleanor. And Andrew Gideon. Although Yahweh hadn’t revealed much, she felt certain the story of the small boy she held eleven years ago was about to intersect with the granddaughter she sent out with her blessing.

Time stopped (an answered prayer) and yet Andrew and Eleanor’s feet continued onto the darkest spot in the woods. Yahweh called this Glory Forest.

Family Connection

What were the prophetic words Grandma “heard” about Andrew eleven years ago? How did those words influence her? Each one of your children were prophesied over this semester. Have you or your children written those words down? How did and do those words impact your children? Parents, how do those words impact you? Share this with your children. Read 1 Corinthians 14:31 as a reminder.

This week we talked about taking every thought captive. Read 2 Corinthians 10:5. Read it in multiple versions. Ask your children to share some of the examples and object lessons we used in class. Are there any particular struggles in your family or any particular struggles with your children? Take one of those areas of struggle and find “a word” to speak truth (against the lies or negativity), in order to “transform minds”. [Please ask if you need some help navigating this. There are some excellent resources out there!]

Memorize: 2 Corinthians 10:5

Journal Ideas:

Draw a picture of taking every thought captive. Write 2 Corinthians 10:5 next to your picture, or print out the verse and glue it next to your picture.

What are some areas of struggle for you? Where do you, specifically, need to take thoughts captive and make them obedient to Christ? Ask God to show you one area He wants to address. Read and pray Psalm 139:23-24 in TPT. Write down what he shows you. Then ask a parent to help you find Truth in the Bible that replaces that thing the Lord wants to transform in your heart and mind.

“God, I invite your searching gaze into my heart. Examine me through and through; find out everything that may be hidden within me. Put me to the test and sift through all my anxious cares. See if there is any path of pain I’m walking on, and lead me back to your glorious, everlasting way— the path that brings me back to you.” Psalms 139:23-24 TPT

Ask God to bring one of the prophetic words spoken over you, to mind; or to highlight one. (You may want to listen to or read the notes from that day.) Ask God what He wants you to know or to show you about that word. Write down, or draw, what you felt Him saying.
