For such a time as this. As Eleanor recounted the story Grandma told her about Esther, she considered her own destiny, the one set out by Yahweh, before she ever came to be. Could it be, that she would be the answer her grandparents had hoped for?
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, so that whoever should believe in him will have everlasting life. Yeshua. He called her by name. He saved her and gave her a command to tell others. That would come. But first she needed to find that vault.
Do not worry about what to say…Holy Spirit will fill your mouth with the words. She trusted Yahweh would show her how to speak and what to say, should she encounter anyone’s questions on her quest.
He uses all things together for the good of those who love Him. She trusted Him on this journey. Grandma promised that He was a God who would not lie and that His purposes and plans were for her good and not for her harm.
Eleanor was a fast student. It was as if Yahweh made her mind like a steel trap. She remembered EVERY word Grandma spoke to her and recalled every story, specifically every story she told from Yahweh’s Book. She rehearsed these as she walked for hours.
Just as the light was setting in the sky, Eleanor set up camp. Grandma and her estimated it would take her three days to get near the edge of the known kingdom, where Grandma guessed the vault was. There was no certainty, but it was a place to start.
She opened her notebook and laid out the map. She made some notes of landmarks and wrote down an estimate of how far she thought she traveled. She laid those aside to eat a piece of hardtack and an apple. She filled her water canteen from a stream a short time ago and took this time to drink half of it.
Living water. She recalled the story of the woman at the well. Yeshua said He was the living water and that if she would drink of Him, living waters would in turn flow from her. He was enough. As she felt called to the to task of seeking out the vault, she remained confident that he would lead her every step of the way.
Eleanor tidied her few belongings and laid down to talk with Yahweh. She would leave at first light.
As Eleanor drifted off to sleep under the vast, lit-up sky, she dreamt of the story Grandma told her about Grandpa’s special book. It was THE BOOK she sought to find first. It held the key to everything.
FAMILY CONNECTION
Do you remember THE BOOK? What clues do you think Eleanor will find? How do you think it “holds the key”?
Choose one, or more, of the Bible stories/statements your kids seem most interested in, from Eleanor’s memories. Read from the Bible, a Story Book Bible or even find a Super Book episode to watch. Follow their lead, where possible. These are the moments they will remember. The Bible is one big treasure map. Show your kids how to unpack all the wonderful treasures within.
Read Joshua 1:8. Eleanor’s situation is unique, but at the same time demonstrates the importance of knowing the Word/meditating on the Word. As we put scripture to memory, the Lord will bring those words to mind, exactly when we need them. Share with your kids how knowing scripture has made a difference in your life. Share examples and stories. Our children want to emulate their parents. As you share your own delight and excitement for the Word of God, your kids would follow your example. Make practice of bringing His Word to life as you go about your daily life. Speak it aloud, apply it to your individual situations, struggles, prayers… (If you need ideas on how to do this, please ask. I LOVE finding scripture that speaks LIFE over our circumstances.) If this isn’t common practice, pick one verse to rehearse and speak as a declaration over your family, every day for a month.
Consider rehearsing each piece of the armor of God and why it is important. You could do one one day, repeat and add the second one the next day, and so on…

Journal Ideas:
Read Romans 10:17 (I like the KJV for this one best). How do we get more of the Word in us, so that we can become stronger in faith? Faith is built up in hearing the Word of God. Ask God to help you come up with a list of ideas to help you get stronger in this area. Draw or write about them in your journal.
Draw and label a picture of the armor of God in your journal. OR color and glue in one of the pics from the links below.
Read through the armor of God again, maybe with your parents – Ephesians 6:10-17. Then sit alone with God (play some quiet, soaking music to help your brain quiet down) and ask Him to show you what piece of armor He wants you to grow in. Then ask Him to give you ideas on how to mature in this. Draw or write about this in your journal.
